“In retrospect, it becomes clear that hindsight is definitely overrated.”
– Alfred E. Neuman, Mad Magazine “cover boy”
My sister and I both loved Mad Magazine. From “Spy vs. Spy” to any of the other “out there” stuff. If only our kids’ only fringe influence was Mad, right?
Most famous for the quote in the headline of today’s post, Alfred was the epitome of “ornery cool,” what ever that means.
But on the topic of worry, why? Why worry?
A) It’s an affront to God.
B) It’s a colossal waste of time.
C) As Dad often said to Mom, a 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist worrier, “Hell, Pat, worrying ain’t gonna change a thing!”
Planning, though — now THAT’s worth burning some calories on. If we’re tempted to worry, it’s as often as not because we neglected to plan.
So whether hindsight is 20 / 20 or definitely overrated, foresight is worth the effort and commitment.
