“Time is measured in minutes. Life is measured in moments.”
– Mark Batterson (b. 1959), best-selling author and pastor, National Community Church
Found this quote in The Monday Morning Memo recently. Roy H. Williams is a major difference-maker, and TMM is way up the Monday reading priority lists.
We’ll probably host a meeting at some point today. We’ll probably talk to a Client, too. We might have a performance talk with a team member, or even resolve a customer complaint. We might meet with a vendor to renegotiate a significant expense item.
What if we approach those minutes intentionally, with a resolve to make sure there are at least a few moments within them? How can we put life in our meeting? How can we impact the life of our Client, with a moment or two of unexpected impact infusion? How can we make our team members or customers walk away feeling like we made a difference, instead of just implementing a performance plan or offering a credit on a future invoice? How can we help the provider share a moment with us instead of just leaving some margin on the table?
Difference-making occurs in moments. All the other crap happens during minutes.
