“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”
– Peter F. Drucker, supreme management theory dude
“Hope is not a strategy.”
– Rick Page, author of the really good book with the same title
Commitment is an interesting concept. Lots of people like being involved, but many resist commitment.
What’s the difference?
Next time you sit down for a bacon-and-egg breakfast, remember, the chicken was involved; the pig was committed.
If we’re just “involved” in the plan, we might hope it works. If we’re committed to the plan, we’ll do whatever we can to make sure it works.
