“Dad, this last week has proven to me that there are no coincidences, and all we can focus on is this moment and whatever we do next.”
- The Tallest of The Three, during our 14-hour drive yesterday, before our 7-hour drive today
I know; I said, “No Diff until Friday.” Sue me.
There is a deeply positive and personal context to this one, but let’s focus on the business side for now.
For 22+ years, The Daily Difference has focused on “next.” The rear-view mirror is smaller than the windshield for multiple perfectly good reasons.
The “no coincidences” piece, people without Faith can write off to “karma” or “the universe” or whatever they choose. For people with Faith, we know better.
The “now” and “next” parts are perhaps more pragmatic and practical. Last quarter’s results are posted, and we can’t change them. Blame GAAP, blame a market swing, blame whatever we want, but it’s in the rear. View. Mirror.
What we do next is what matters most. Always has. Always will. And, as we touched on yesterday, we can honor the noise or pursue the beauty.
Make it a great day, Difference-Makers!
Editor’s Note: They’re watching, listening and learning, even when we think they aren’t.

Steve – – it’s a blessing of the highest order when our children mirror back those things we hold so dearly. Merry Christmas to you and the family. Tom
