“You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade”
– Lyric from Tenth Avenue North’s “You Are More”
As we head in to a Sunday, a Faithful reminder of a message that’s so very true.
But if Sunday mornings don’t float your boat, the message still rings true from a strictly secular perspective. In that case, it’s lower-case-t “truth,” rather than upper-case-T “Truth.” Yet, the lyric rings true, all the same, because, if it happened prior to right now, we can’t do anything to prevent it and we can do precious little-to-nothing about it. Faith dictates the tense (remade vs. remake), but the message is clear. To make a difference, what we do next matters more than all the choices, mistakes and / or problems that came before.
