It’s not just that it may be the devil or it may be the Lord; it’s that we’re all going to have to serve somebody. And that means we’re going to have to serve on behalf of some thing.

Even if we’re the sole owner of our business, we’re going to have to serve somebody. Our Clients and our team members, of course, and our shareholders, but let’s think even bigger picture. What more significant thing happens when we serve our Clients? What greater good is created when we engage, develop, and grow our team? What will the wealth we generate for our shareholders lead to or create or what problem will it help solve?
It’s why I settled on the theme of Difference Making all those years ago. If what we’re doing isn’t going to make a difference, if it’s not going to allow us to serve somebody, then what’s the point?
