“Victim of this, victim of that; Your momma’s too thin; your daddy’s too fat
Get over it, Get over it! All this whinin’ and cryin’ and pitchin’ a fit, Get over it, get over it!”
– Lyric from “Get Over It” by Eagles
This was the first song Don and Glenn wrote when the band reunited after a 14-year “breakup.” It was a symbolic, rollicking and bouncy gesture of healing, of moving forward.
In times of great change, moving forward (and sometimes healing) is the best approach. Rear-view mirrors were a great invention, and probably have saved more garbage cans than any other man-made item. But we’re not just backing out of the garage, are we? Nope. We’re going somewhere. So the view ahead is significantly more important. And, even if we bumped the garbage can as we got on our way — we ought to get over it and head on down the road.
I don’t know if it’s the media, or if it’s society in general. It could be multiple factors that cause an epidemic of negativity, or maybe it’s just that this election year begs for negativity, crying and fit-pitching. (I don’t care which candidate you back — that’s a universal judgment.)
In a time when there’s too much whining, crying and fit-pitching, what we ought to be doing is getting over it. Whatever “it” is.
Because, as long-time subscribers to The Diff know — it’s all about what we do next.

Good post Steve! Totally agree wiht you and the Eagles!
Personally I believe our 24 X 7 media is the biggest factor on this! They’re the best and worst change this past 50+ years!!
