“It’s those changes in latitudes,
Changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.”
– Lyric from “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes” by Jimmy Buffet
“No matter where you go, there you are.”
– Dick Heston (1933 – 2002)
On the verge of a big change in latitude, this song keeps popping in to my noggin, and I can’t get it out. Noting remains quite the same, for sure. “The” plan was to not change latitude, or to change it in a different manner than which we’re actually changing. All sorts of running and cunning went in to the process, which drug on longer than it should have, until the decision was made for us.
This, of course, was God, yet again, having to grab me by the lapels and say, “Hellloooooooo, McFly!” or perhaps something more Godly — but he had to get my attention.
Thus, on Monday, I join a team of people I admire, respect and will enjoy working together. It won’t be like The ‘Burg and it dang sure won’t be like the A-T-X. And when I get there, as Dad would remind me, there I’ll be.
