“So plant a little seed, soon it starts growing
Shed a little light then we’ll be glowing
Hear a little tune then we’ll start singing
Give a little love then love will start breathing”
– Lyric from Collective Soul’s “Breathe”
Pace.
It’s always present, obviously, and it can be our friend, whether fast or slow.
How do we know when a change of pace is called for? If you find yourself champing at the bit (and it is champing, by the way, not chomping), then perhaps increasing the pace will let more light in. If we find ourselves looking for off-ramps along path, then perhaps a reduction in pace will allow us to breathe.
Oxygen, after all, is a good thing.
If you and those around you are addicted to a pace — whether fast or slow — plant a seed, shed some light, sing a tune and give some love, with the intent of altering the pace — and making a difference.
