“I’m back in the saddle again!”
– Lyric from Aerosmith’s “Back In The Saddle”
The Wall Street Journal ran an almost full-page article on Tuesday, Managing Re-Entry Anxiety.
It’s been expressed in the e-mails you’ve sent, and in the conversations overheard at bars and restaurants. The ones you can overhear with fewer masks!
The point of “back in the saddle?”
It really is like riding a bike, or a horse. Once you learn, you don’t forget.
As a kid, I remember that first day that we could get our bikes out after the snow melted. I remember when The Three could ride their bikes to school in Wisconsin after the winter ended. It was usually early June, as I recall, but I digress…
That first ride is joyous. Sheer giddiness. After a long season of boots and snow suits — being back in the saddle brought out all the best feelings.
And so it may be if we let it, in this season of re-entry.
