“Oh, my next girl will be nothing like my ex-girl; I made mistakes back then, I’ll never do it again…”
– Lyric from The Black Keys “Next Girl”
It’s a GREAT live music week. Black Keys Monday night and Foo Fighters Thursday night at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre, but I digress…
“I’ll NEVER do it again.”
“EVERYONE (or NO ONE) does that, Dad!”
“She’ll be NOTHING like my ex-girl…”
Dangerous terms these absolutes.
Dangerous because they set up missed expectations. They set up disappointments. They set up failure.
Difference makers almost never use absolutes and almost always deal in possibilities.
Almost never. Get it?
The more care we take with the words we choose, the more likely we are to be comfortable living with the things we say.
