“Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking out the door.
If you want to change your direction, if your time of life is at hand,
Well don’t be the rule be the exception, a good way to start is to stand.”
– Lyric from “One Foot in Front of The Other” sung by Mickey Rooney in “Santa Claus is Coming To Town”
It could be the fact that several houses already have their Christmas lights up. (I do NOT get that!) Or it could be that the lyric came to me over the weekend as I plotted out my week.
Lots to do, like most weeks. Not enough hours to get everything done, like most weeks. So, how to begin?
Well, begin!
The old metaphor about how to eat an elephant (“one bite at a time”) is actually a fairly fitting picture to begin most busy days. And, the sooner we start nibbling, or the sooner we start putting one foot in front of the other, the sooner we’ve moved forward, and the closer we’ll be to making a difference.
Especially if we want to change our direction!
