“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
– Nelson Mandela
Difference making equals significance.
Not “importance” which can be distorted, inflated and mis-identified.
Not “success” which rarely means we’re actually “successful” in any objective measure.
Significance.
Will the person we’re engaged with, days, weeks, months or years from now, remember what we did, or said? How we did or said it? Will they “pay forward” whatever difference we made for them?
If the answers are “yes,” then significance has been accomplished by the difference we’ve made.
